In my desire to improve my skills in writing blog titles,  I’m always observing. I examine the headlines on magazines, articles shared on my Facebook newsfeed, the email subject I receive in my inbox.

Then, I analyze the ones that really caught my attention.

But developing the habit of noticing, analyzing, and applying catchy headlines on your copy take time.  And sometimes, when you have a deadline, you just need to come up with something, right?

So here are five headline hacks to help you write better headlines applicable for blog posts, or even sales letters.

1. Create excitement.

How do you create excitement in your blog titles?

You have to intrigue your reader with the benefits of your product or the information that they’ll get from reading your article.

The goal of your catchy headline is to stir emotions and help your reader imagine enjoying the “unique selling proposition” that you present.

Your site visitor is having one of these questions in his or her mind:

  • What’s in it for me?
  • How can reading this solve my problem?

Be sure to address these questions.

When you focus on your customer’s burning questions immediately, that’s part of how to write a great headline.

The result? Your reader will be excited right from the start and continue reading.

2. Use subheadings.

One headline isn’t enough.  You also need to learn how to use subheadings.

Consider your subheadings as a way to convey other benefits of your product or your key points, aside from the major highlight written in your headline.

Most website visitors will only scan the pages and don’t read every single word.  So the subheadings will stand out to get their attention. It makes the reading process easier.

3. Write to your buyer persona.


Craft attention-grabbing headlines by calling out your buyer persona.  This will make your blog articles and sales letters sound relevant and personalized in an instant.

4. Ask a direct question.

Who says you can’t write a headline in question form? Write one that directly relates with either the pain point of your target customer or the benefit of your product.

  • Tired of Spending Thousands of Dollars on Facebook Ads?

5. Create at least five working headlines.

The first headline idea that came to mind may not be final.  You can always think of a better headline while writing your copy or even upon finishing your sales letter.

Afterwards, pretend that you are the target reader of your sales letter.

Which headline gets you excited?

Which one stirs your emotions?

Pick your favorites and modify them until you are really happy.
